Career
Saoirse Ronan got her start on multiple episodes of two Irish television series, The Clinic (as Rhiannon Geraghty) and Proof (as Orla Boland, a role that she took over from Emma Bolger, who played Orla in the first season), from 2003-2005. Her first major motion picture appearance to be filmed was in the movie Death Defying Acts, although its release has been delayed until 2008. She appears in starring roles in the films Atonement and The Lovely Bones.
She recently signed on at CAA.[4]

Ronan is the daughter of actor Paul Ronan and his wife, Monica. As a child, she accompanied her father while he worked on films such as The Devil's Own and Veronica Guerin. She currently attends school in Ardattin, Ireland[5] and lives in County Carlow.[3] Ronan has a border collie named Sassy; she has said that it is Sassy whom she misses most, when away filming.[6]
